windows 2008 r2 print server: jobs remaining in queues

we recently removed the “manage documents” permission for creator owner to prevent bypassing the pay-for-print system. the permission can be removed from each printer or set globally at the print server level.

we experienced some oddities of old print jobs printing out last week. this morning i examined the print queues on the windows print server and noticed lots of jobs listed…some from 5 days ago. the jobs were listed as “sent to printer” but not cleared from the queue. upon further investigation, it appears that this is some kind of windows 2008 r2 bug. the recommended work around is to set driver isolation to none (set on print drivers). then manually clear the print queues of old jobs.
