tmobile g1

enough just talking about it…
so now i have a g1

negotiations fell through with at&t on trying to get a lower monthly rate. everything they offered me was about the same price i was already paying. so we have parted ways. pricing was the main reason but also because of the lack of android phones. every other carrier seems to be embracing android except at&t.

right now at&t just has one android phone, the backflip, and from what i’ve read its features are crippled on at&t…and yahoo as the default search engine…seriously? their second android phone (that hasn’t come out yet) is from dell. i am personally a dell fan, but i doubt a first gen phone from them will be that great. and plus dell has a track record of leaving new markets very early if things don’t work out for them (PDAs, mp3 players, etc).

getting off topic…anyways…so far i’m very pleased with the phone and service.

before getting this phone i had no exposure to android whatsoever. i had only read about it. the current g1 comes with android 1.6. and out of the box i think it’s great and really well thought out. from reading things online it seemed that earlier releases of android were lacking. so i’m glad i waited for the platform to mature a bit.

i will possibly look into rooting the device and maybe messing around with the SDK. whatever i have time for.
