at some point in the netflix xbox360 app i accidentally enabled closed captioning while meaning to use the “more episodes” button. ever since that happened closed captioning has been enabled for everything i stream. i’ve been manually disabling the feature per session and that has gotten tiresome fairly quickly.

apparently (i haven’t verified this as a hard fact), when i enabled closed captioning that one time it enabled a persistent system-wide setting for the xbox360. to resolve go to xbox360 settings->system->console->display->closed captioning.
