the easiest way to get a copy of the IE9 admin templates seems to be to install IE9 on a 64-bit computer (or the domain controllers themselves). after IE9 is installed new copies of the admin templates will be in c:\windows\policydefinitions. in this case the files are inetres.admx and inetres.adml.

the new copies can then be copied to the domain’s group policy central store. i made a backup of the old files just in case…

the path to the domain’s GP central store is:
\\domain.com\sysvol\domain.com\policies\policydefinitions
