tomato firmware

i did some reading a while back about tomato and then dnsmasq, and got excited at the idea of using my linksys router for local dns resolution. and i went about it by editing /etc/hosts on the router. which works great…until a router reboot.

so today i googled for a better solution and found this blog:
http://rhodesmill.org/brandon/2008/tomato-reverse-dns

for some reason i skipped the update portion where the gentleman says use static DHCP. oh well…i did it his way and it works fine.

also i did know about static DHCP already, but chose not to use it out of lazyness…i.e. collecting MAC addresses. my thanks to the author of the blog.
